How do we work out pricing?
Our laser cutting services are priced according to the time the design takes to engrave/cut + the cost of the material chosen, each file will be different as each design takes a different amount of time to engrave/cut.
We lay all pieces that need cutting on one of our standard sheet sizes, if you would like to lay out your own sheets you are most welcome to do so. You can read detailed instructions on how to do this on this page. Sheet sizes include 900x600mm, 600x600mm, 600x450mm, 600x300mm, 300x300mm, 300x150mm, 150x150mm, smaller cuts can be supplied on 150x75mm and 75x75mm, making sure to waste as little material as possible. See here for our sheet sizes cheat sheet.
We then use custom software to work the time involved in making your design. This software only accepts vector files and only reads 3 colours in those files to figure out what needs to be done.
RED = cutting,
BLACK = engraving
BLUE = vector line engraving
Is there a maximum cut size?
The biggest we can cut is 900x600mm but the majority of our materials are maximum 600x600mm sheet size so please take a look at our materials pages for details on sheet sizes and materials. Or see our sheet sizes cheat sheet.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
We can cut anything from a one off sample piece to larger quantities.
A one off small sample pieces start at $25 + shipping and gst.

What vector programs can I use?
You can use Adobe Illustrator, it has a 30 day trial and costs around $35 a month after that, this is the best option when designing for laser cutting and most likely the best thing to start with if you are planning a few projects, there are many, many tutorials for using illustrator online.
Other programs include inkscape which is free or Affinity Designer, There are also lots of CAD programs which our customers sometimes use, but they do not always generate the best files, we can still definitely work with them though, save CAD files as DXF or DWG.
Programs such as Canva, Procreate and many other ipad based programs are unfortunately not vector programs and the files they produce are not suitable for laser cutting. We can still sometimes use the files they produce but it will be a matter of recreating the file or auto tracing it in a vector program. Best to google the program you are thinking of using before you start to see if you can export a vector file format.
But I don’t have a vector or access to a vector based program!
This is not a problem either, we can usually still give you a rough indication of the price by quickly creating a vector file for quoting,
it will just take a little longer for us to get back to you. In some cases (especially with logos or files with text) we will still need the vector file to complete the final job, we can advise you of this when we reply to your request.
A few things to note
Engraving usually takes more time than cutting.
Vector engraving is generally quicker than raster engraving, except in very detailed designs.
Material prices vary and each material uses a different cutting speed so will have different rates, some materials cut and etch quicker than others.
Thicker materials generally have a longer cut time than thinner materials.
