FILE SETUPS

What file types do you accept?
We accept all file types but not all files can be used with the laser cutter. We will need to assess the file upon receipt. Preferably we would love for you to supply a vector file as the laser cutter can only recognise vector files. The laser cutters need to use the lines contained in the file to know where to cut, engrave and vector etch. There are many programs you can use to create a vector file – illustrator, inkscape, autocad, draft sight, corel draw and so many more. File types we can use include PDF or AI (preferred), EPS, SVG, DXF, DWG. See our file setup section for more details.

What if I only have a drawing or jpg?
Send it through so we can take a look, many times we can convert the file over or recreate it for you. We will do our best to give you a price without a vector file but it may be a rough price guide as our quoting software can only work with  vector files. If it’s a simple shape or silhouette shape we can work with a drawing or JPG file and either re-draw it to a vector file or quote from the jpg. See our help me with my file page to see what we can and cannot convert.

I have a vector file but I’m having trouble adding the red cut line, can you help?
We sure can, fixing this kind of thing is our speciality! Please send it through so we can take a look.

Do you have any instructions I can follow to create my design?
We have detailed file setup guidelines over on our file setup pages, this will walk you through creating a vector file for cutting with us and explain about how the laser cutter works too. Please see our file setup pages.

I’m just after a basic shape cutout from one of your materials? Can you help?
You’ll find thousands of shapes in all of our materials on our simple shapes store. All our shapes can be customised and previewed in real time before ordering, so you can preview materials, change sizes, add holes and lots more. If something is not quite right we can customise any of these shapes too, send us a message and we can help you out. Can’t see the shape you need? Get it touch and we can create it for you!

PRICING

How much will my job cost?
Our laser cutting services are priced according to the time it takes to cut on the machine + the material cost, each file will be different so please send through your file for a quote.

Can you give me a price without me supplying a file?
We need some kind of file to estimate cutting times and give you the price – even if it’s just a rough file that we can use with our software, otherwise it’s hard to guess what you are after.

ORDERING

Can I order a one-off piece?
Yes you can. No job is too small here. Prices for a one off sample piece start from $25 + gst.

What payment methods you do you accept?
We accept payments by direct deposit, credit card, Afterpay, Zip Pay and Paypal. Details will be on your invoice.

Can I open an account and pay later?
All orders must be paid for before production starts, we do however offer Afterpay and Zip Pay so you could. use one of these services to cut now – pay later.

CUTTING LIMITATIONS

What is the largest size you can cut?
Our maximum cut size is 900 x 600mm. However some materials are only available in smaller sheet sizes, you can find individual material sheets sizes on the relevant materials page.

What is the thickest material you can cut?
Our thickest material at the moment is 12mm lightweight plywood, we can only cut up to 6mm acrylic (in white, clear or black). Please see our materials page for details on the materials we can cut.

Can you etch on both sides of the sheet?
We can create a double sided job and engrave on both sides of the sheet, It can sometimes be hard to line up 100% so we would only offer this to approved designs. Get in touch with your file and let us take a look.

MATERIAL LIMITATIONS

Can you cut leather?
Sorry no we cannot cut or engrave leather, it makes a horrible smell.

Can you cut metal?
Sorry no, we can’t cut metals, glass or ceramics.

Can you cut my supplied material?
At this time we are only cutting materials from our materials page, mainly because things go wrong we need to be able to re-cut the job if the laser cutter has trouble cutting your job (which it can do sometimes).
